The traditional methods we have inherited date back to the Edo period. The technique that we practice is called the “Yoshida Tachimori Style“ and we are currently the only workshop in Japan that uses it. The “Yoshida Tachimori Style” is a method in which black lacquer is coated on the blade of the Katana. It is carefully used to carve intricate lines of black ink onto the Go Board. Our boards are handmade while the checkered lines that mark them are also hand carven with a Katana making it unique to other boards.
